How to

Insert Video

Unfortunately, there is no easy way to upload videos directly to Story Capture. The best way to insert a video into your post is to have your video already online, hosted either on your own server, or on a hosted site like YouTube, Vimeo, or Google.

Once you have done this, you can insert a video into your post by unfolding  Media in the Add Post or Create Blog entry form. Under Videos, enter the URL of your online video.

You can give your video a caption, which will appear in small italic text directly under the video in your post.

Insert Photo

Images -- photos, drawings, maps, and other graphics -- can be just as critical as words in telling a rich and authentic story.

Unfortunately, there is no easy way to upload images directly to Story Capture. The best way to insert photos or other images into your post is to have your image already online, hosted either on your own server, or on a hosting service like Flickr or Photobucket.

Once you have done this, you can insert a photo into your post by unfolding  Media in the Add Post or Create Blog entry form. Scroll down to External Images.

Add a Post

A post is one entry in a larger story. There are two ways to add a new post:

  • Click "Add Post" on the gray menu bar at the top of the screen. This post will be added to the story in chronological order, at the end.
  • Or, from inside a story, you can click the [+] next to any post, and then select either "Insert new post before" or "Insert new post after." You can use this feature to insert posts out of chronological order.

Either of these actions will open the "create blog entry" form that you'll use to add a new post.

The first thing you'll see in the "create blog entry" form is an area called Vocabularies. For our purposes, vocabulary is the same thing as organization. You'll use the fields in this box to where your post is displayed, and how it can be found.
